Dr. Hsiangting (Shatina) Chen
Brief bio
Dr. Hsiangting (Shatina) Chen holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Hospitality Administration from Texas Tech University. Dr. Chen has served as an Assistant Professor in the College of Human Environmental Sciences, Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management at The University of Alabama since 2015. She teaches Hotel Sales and Service Management, Meeting Management, and Strategic Management in the Hospitality Management Program. Dr. Chen also serves as an undergraduate advisor, UA-MPI advisor, and Hospitality Program Assessment Coordinator. She coordinates Hospitality Management Program newsletters and job postings that help students develop and advance their careers. In terms of research, Dr. Chen serves in journals' editorial boards and the reviewer for several top-tier hospitality and tourism journals. Her research interests include travelers' behavior,consumer psychology, digital marketing communication, corporate social responsibility (CSR) in hospitality businesses. Her current research projects focus on CSR and hospitality employees' stress and well-being. Chen’s projects have been funded by the College of Human Environmental Sciences, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development (OVPRED) at The University of Alabama, and the PCMA Foundation.
